Hello! I’m Pragalbha Vasudevan, the author and photographer behind this blog. I’m excited to share my culinary journey with you.
About Me and my Family
I was born and brought up in India. My parents are retired Indian Government employees, and I have a younger brother. We’ve always been a close knit family.
I got married in 2014, and moved to the US with my husband, Bhargav. We’ve travelled extensively over the years, and he’s been my inspiration to start this blog. We had a son in 2020. He’s a pandemic baby, and has been cooped up indoors for far too long. We can’t wait to travel the world again, this time with our son. We live in Overland Park, Kansas.
I’m a Software Engineer by profession, and that helped me in designing this website. It’s going to be an interesting journey, balancing my technical and creative side in this blog.
About Deliciously Vegetarian
My journey
I grew up seeing the master cooking skills demonstrated by my grandma and mom in the kitchen. My tryst with cooking began in a small cookery classroom in my school. Yes, we had compulsory cookery classes in High school. Our school’s correspondent strongly believed that cooking is a necessary life skill, and felt duty bound to impart that knowledge as a part of the school’s curriculum.
Slowly, I began trying out the recipes at home, under my mom’s watchful eyes. She would always complain about the mess I left behind, but that did not deter me. My brother would sometimes join me in, and we enjoyed cooking together.
I started cooking extensively, only after I moved to the US. Bhargav has been my dearest food critic. He has always been telling me to start a food blog, and have all my recipes in one place. I kept putting it off for too long, but here I’m now. It’s better late, than never, right? I have to thank him for planting the idea and encouraging me without giving up. He’s designed the blog’s logo!
What my blog is all about
I’m a born vegetarian and this is going to be a vegetarian blog, along with some vegan recipes. For a new Vegetarian, eating a wholesome meal can be daunting, and I hope to help you out with my healthy and tasty recipes. I have a toddler, who’s a picky eater. I’ve adapted my style of cooking to make it interesting, and will share all the tips and tricks, to achieve the toddler-approved seal!
I love baking, and you’ll see some of my favorite dessert recipes. I’ve experimented a little with eggless baking also, and I’m excited to share it with you!
My dad’s job demanded frequent transfers to various cities in India. That meant, I got to experience different cultures, and people, when I grew up. I’ve lived in both South and North Indian States, and have savored the regional cuisines in their authentic places of origin. Naturally, you’ll see a variety of Indian recipes that are close to my heart. I also plan to document our family recipes that have been passed down from my grandma to my mom, and the ones that my mom picked up along our travel across India.
Stay tuned, while I take you through my culinary journey!
