Ingredients for Oven Roasted Broccoli
Broccoli
Buy fresh and green Broccoli. If the florets are yellow, they are not fresh.
Garlic
Garlic is the star element of this dish. Use fresh garlic. You can replace in with Garlic powder if you’re out of fresh garlic.
Black pepper powder
Freshly crushed black pepper gives the maximum flavor, but you can use store bought black pepper powder.
Oil
I always use Expeller pressed Avocado oil for roasting vegetables due to its higher smoking point (520F). You can use any neutral oil for this recipe.
Red pepper flakes
This is an optional ingredient, but it elevates the dish to another level.
Oven Roasted Broccoli – Method
There are two parts to this recipe.
- Making the spice mix
- Roasting the Broccoli
Making the Spice Mix
In a small cup, add 2 tablespoons of Avocado oil.
Add 3 cloves of minced garlic to it.
Also, add ½ teaspoon of pepper powder and 1/4th teaspoon of red pepper flakes.
Finally add 1 teaspoon of salt (or as desired) to the oil mixture.
Mix them all well. Your spice mix is ready
Roasting the Broccoli
Preheat oven to 415 F (210 C)
Cut Broccoli into bite sized florets and wash them thoroughly.
In a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spread the washed Broccoli.
Pour the prepared spice mix on the Broccoli florets and mix them well. Use your hands to make sure the spice mix coats the florets evenly.
Sprinkle 1/8th teaspoon of Oregano to the Broccoli florets.
Bake for 20 minutes, stirring once halfway through. Broil for 3-4 minutes or until the Broccolis is crisped to your liking.
Serve it warm as a side to any meal. Squeeze in some fresh lemon juice before eating.
